Several flights delayed due to protest at Islamabad airport

Passengers stranded as protest over salaries halts flight clearances; management in talks to resolve issue

Islamabad International Airport’s flight operations have been severely disrupted following a protest by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) engineers.

Eight flights at the national airport had to be canceled, and several passengers were left stranded at the airport. According to sources, engineers refused to provide clearance to the planes, after which domestic and international flights were suspended. Suspended flights include:

  • PK-601 from Islamabad to Gilgit
  • PK-602 coming from Gilgit to Islamabad
  • PK-451 from Islamabad to Skardu
  • PK-452 coming from Skardu to Islamabad
  • PK-603 from Islamabad to Gilgit
  • PK-604 coming from Gilgit to Islamabad
  • PK-233 from Islamabad to Dubai
  • PK-234 from Dubai to Islamabad

Islamabad Airport has been filled with worried and frustrated passengers, who got news of flight suspension after waiting for hours. Passengers have expressed anger  over the poor planning of PIA management.

According to a PIA representative, efforts are ongoing to control the situation caused by to protest  and provide alternative arrangements for affected passengers. He also said that management is negotiating with union representatives and trying to fulfill their demands.

It should be noticed that this protest not only destroyed the plans of passengers but also effected the airline financially and its fame.
